Yun is a partner in Farris LLP’s litigation and family departments, whose practice includes corporate, commercial, family, estate, civil strata and tenancy disputes. Yun has acted for individuals, corporations, and institutional clients before all levels of court in British Columbia, the Supreme Court of Canada, and various administrative tribunals and professional disciplinary bodies. Yun is a fierce advocate for her clients and has extensive experience as counsel in court, mediations, and hearings before administrative tribunals and regulatory bodies. Yun was named in 2022 as a Winner for Lexpert Rising Stars’ Top 40 under 40, in 2023 by Benchmark Litigation as a Top 40 under 40 Litigator, and has been recognized by Lexpert in 2024 and repeatedly recommended in the Best Lawyers edition.

Yun has law degrees from Harvard Law School and the University of British Columbia, as well as a background in psychology and neuroscience. Yun has served as judicial law clerk to Justices Newbury and Lowry of the B.C. Court of Appeal, and has worked as the Court of Appeal’s consultant to its Rule Reform Project. Yun co-authors the British Columbia Annual Practice, an annual procedural text used broadly by the judiciary and lawyers, with Justice Janice Dillon.

Yun regularly participates as a presenter at various conferences and continued legal education seminars, and periodically teaches as a sessional lecturer in the Criminology Department at Simon Fraser University. Yun was born in China and raised in New Zealand. She is an avid runner who has competed in the Vancouver and Boston Marathons. Yun has a full house with her husband, four year old, 7 month old, and four pets.

  • Successfully defending upholding a marriage agreement for procedural and operational fairness (FCAS v. CES, 2025 BCSC 622).

  • Successfully setting aside a divorce obtained on false evidence (Wang v. Yang, 2024 BCSC 624).

  • Successfully mounting and defending applications in a high conflict family matter, including successfully mounting applications including for production due to waiver of privilege (F.C.A.S. v. C.E.S., 2023 BCSC 1098), defending applications for interim distribution (F.C.S. v. C.E.S., 2022 BCSC 1317), discovery of documents (F.C.A.S. v. C.E.S., 2023 BCSC 1098), interim spousal support (F.C.A.S. v. C.E.S., 2024 BCSC 1133), and obtaining forthwith lump sum costs (F.C.A.S. v. C.E.S., 2023 BCSC 2098).

  • Successfully setting aside freezing and preservation orders obtained on false evidence and obtaining awards of special costs (Gill v. Berar et al., Oral Reasons of Madam Justice Francis dated June 21, 2022).

  • Representing Simon Fraser University in successfully seeking summary judgment to dismiss an action by a former student relating to the withdrawal of the student due to performance issues (Williams v. Simon Fraser University, 2018 BCSC 1787), and successfully defending various appellate applications (see for example 2022 BCCA 48) and the appeal (2022 BCCA 135), and subsequent attempts to appeal (see for example 2025 BCCA 175).

  • Representing client in successfully defending an application for Letters Rogatory from the District Court of Arizona (N2 Packaging Systems LLC v. Nitrotin, Inc., 2020 BCSC 1719).

  • Successfully seeking a declaration that a parent wrongfully removed and retained a child in Canada and successfully returning the child to Uganda (Mangat v. Mangat, 2019 BCSC 2057).

  • Representing client in seeking preservation and production orders in relation to digital currencies owned by the company (Global Digital Services Inc. v. Arnold, 2018 BCSC 2261).

  • Representing client in successfully opposing leave to appeal before the B.C. Court of Appeal relating to the Supreme Court’s order of special costs related to a finding of civil conspiracy (Price v. Robson, 2017 BCCA 419).
