Dispute resolution

A spinoff from the demerger of Chooi & Company + Cheang & Ariff, Chooi & Company’s dispute resolution department is best known for its strength in corporate and commercial litigation, particularly in handling boardroom takeovers and shareholder disputes within both public listed and private companies. Additionally, the department handles a diverse range of legal matters encompassing land and property, contracts, torts, commercial fraud, trusts and estates, construction and building, insolvency and banking, as well as other civil disputes. Seasoned dispute partners Sau Foo (Christopher) Leong, Ira Biswas, Tuck Sun Lim, Pei Ying (Janet) Chai and Yeong Hui Yap helm the firm’s dispute resolution practice. In a decades-long landmark property dispute, the firm continues to represent Semantan Estate (1952) in its high-stakes battle with the Government of Malaysia over a 263.272-acre prime land parcel in Kuala Lumpur.
