K&L Gates’ Tapei office has two partners. Key partner Shilin Huang handles a wide range of litigation and arbitration mandates for domestic and international clients with interests in China and Taiwan.
The firm’s lawyers are engaged in significant civil and criminal litigation across the energy and information technology sectors. In a highlighted case, the team is representing defendant China Petrochemical Development Corporation (CPDC) in a toxic tort suit. More than 300 plaintiffs claim that the various health complications they suffered were caused by CPDC exposing them to dioxin. It was the first case that the Taiwan court accepted epidemiology analysis in deciding causation of toxic tort claims.
Key clients of the firm include CPDC, Chinatrust Financial Holding, semiconductor company IQE and CTBC Bank.
