Litigation Star
Product liability and recall
Kevin focuses on complex civil litigation, principally in the areas of product liability, aviation, and business litigation. As an experienced advocate and Partner in Wiggin and Dana’s Litigation Department, Kevin has represented clients in a variety of disputes in Connecticut and throughout the country, including class actions and multidistrict litigation.
Kevin is a member of the Product Liability Advisory Council and chairs the firm’s Product Liability Defense Practice Group, which recently earned the Connecticut Law Tribune’s Litigation Department of the Year Award for Product Liability. In this area, he has counseled and defended product designers, manufacturers, sellers, owners, operators, and insurers in the aviation, drug and medical device, sporting goods, consumer, food, industrial, and other industries. He frequently lectures and teaches on aviation litigation topics.
Kevin has tried cases in state and federal courts, serving as lead trial counsel on behalf of Fortune 500 manufacturers in multi-week trials involving product liability, personal injury, wrongful death, and property damage claims. His matters often involve technically complex products and systems, ranging from jet engines, to pharmaceuticals and medical devices, to computer hardware and software.
Kevin’s other business litigation work includes representing clients in commercial, contract, and intellectual property disputes, including patent infringement and trade secret claims, class actions, and other matters involving unfair and deceptive trade practices (CUTPA), Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), antitrust, and other business tort claims. For example, he was instrumental in defending ride-sharing services in Connecticut from legal challenges by taxi companies.
He has also defended hospitals and physicians in numerous medical malpractice and health care-related actions involving medical services, products, and devices; complex medical issues; and large damage claims.
Kevin has earned extensive recognition. Benchmark Litigation named him a “Litigation Star,” and he has been recognized in Who’s Who Legal in the area of aviation litigation and in Super Lawyers in the areas of aviation litigation, product liability defense, and business litigation.
Kevin serves as the Connecticut State Chair of the International Association of Defense Counsel, a member of the Board of Directors for Connecticut Statewide Legal Services, and a James W. Cooper Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Council. He is a recipient of the firm’s Pro Bono Achievement Award.
Before joining the firm, Kevin served as law clerk to the Honorable Thomas F. Hogan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and to the Honorable Barrington D. Parker of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Kevin graduated with honors from Georgetown Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief at The Georgetown Law Journal and was elected a member of The Order of the Coif. He obtained a bachelor’s degree with honors from Yale University.
