Dentons part ways with Dacheng Law Offices

Global law firm Dentons has recently split with its China branch Dacheng Law Offices following recent mandates by the government on Chinese law firms regarding cybersecurity and data protection. The firms previously joined together in 2015, creating a firm of over 6,000 lawyers.

Dentons combines with Link Legal

Dentons has combined with Indian law firm Link Legal, the first global law firm to combine with a law firm in India. With this union, Dentons will be operating in five of the six largest cities in India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.

Nishimura & Asahi announces Foreign Law Joint Enterprise

Japanese law firm Nishimura & Asahi has rebranded and commenced its Foreign Law Joint Enterprise. Through this new enterprise, the firm intends to strengthen relations between Japanese and non-Japanese lawyers on cross-border matters.

Tanner De Witt welcomes Douglas Clark

Douglas Clark has joined Tanner De Witt’s IP practice as a partner. Prior to joining, Clark was working for his own firm, Douglas Clark.

Addisons brings in James Lawrence

Australian law firm Addisons has added patent litigator and trademark specialist James Lawrence as partner to its IP practice. Prior to joining, Lawrence served as a partner at Mills Oakley.

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas building IP practice

Business law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has hired former Anand & Anand partner Swati Sharma as a partner to lead its IP practice. We understand Sharma will bring a few former colleagues to the new firm.

Daniel Valencia joins DLA Piper as a partner

Trial lawyer Daniel Valencia has joined DLA Piper as a partner in the firm’s IP practice. Prior to joining, Valencia was special counsel at Covington & Burling.

Amy LaValle joins Frost Brown Todd as a partner

Frost Brown Todd has added seasoned IP litigator Amy LaValle as a partner. Prior to joining, LaValle served as a partner at Munck Wilson Mandala.

Michael Word joins Dykema as a partner

Michael Word has joined the IP department of Dykema in Chicago. Word was previously an attorney at Mayer Brown.

Potomac Law expands IP practice with new hires

Potomac Law has made several new IP hires in its Boston and Washington D.C. offices. Dana Hayter joined the firm’s Boston office as a partner, while Otilia Gabor and Mitchell Shapiro joined the firm’s Washington D.C. office as partners. Prior to joining, Hayter was a partner at Perkins Coie. Gabor and Shapiro were previously at SG Patents, which has now merged with Potomac Law.

Hans Hertell joins Hogan Lovells as a partner

Commercial litigator and IP lawyer Hans Hertell has joined Hogan Lovells’s Miami office as a new IP partner. Hertell joined from Pryor Cashman.

Kilpatrick Townsend hires an IP litigator

Trade mark litigator Jonathan Thomas joined as a partner in its New York office. Thomas, who was previously a partner at Mayer Brown, will be part of the firm’s advertising and marketing group.

 

EUROPE

Mathys & Squire gets trade mark leader

Helen Cawley has joined Mathys & Squire as a partner and head of its trade mark team. Cawley, who specializes in trade mark protection work, was previously with IP firm D Young & Co.

Petošević opens a new office in Azerbaijan

Petošević has opened a new office in Baku, Azerbaijan. The central and eastern European firm became part of Cedar White Bradley earlier this year.

A new IP firm in Poland

FGGH IP was established in August 2023 by four former JWP practitioners: Piotr Godlewski, Alicja Kicińska-Fujawa, Helena Gajek, and Iwona Płodzich-Hennig.

Patent litigator joins Pinsent Masons as a partner

James Marshall joined Pinsent Mason’s London office as a patent litigation partner. Prior to joining, Marshall was a partner at Taylor Wessing.

Wensel Britz joins Von Seidels as a partner

Von Seidels welcomed Wensel Britz as a partner in its enforcement practice. Prior to joining, Britz was a partner at Adams & Adams.
