Heather Doi joined Nathanson, Schachter & Thompson LLP as an associate in 2020 and quickly assumed a natural mantle as lead associate. Heather joined NST’s partnership in 2024.

Prior to joining NST, Heather clerked for seven justices of the BC Supreme Court including then Chief Justice Hinkson and practiced at another leading litigation firm. She is a thoughtful lawyer with a keen work ethic and strong ability to quickly see to the heart of an issue.

Heather maintains a broad litigation practice with a focus on corporate-commercial litigation including shareholder and partnership disputes, contract disputes, real property development disputes, professional negligence matters, and employment issues. Heather has also developed expertise in the areas of regulatory and administrative law. She appears before all levels of court in British Columbia, as well as before arbitral and administrative tribunals, including the British Columbia Securities Commission, Forest Appeals Commission, and The Law Society of British Columbia’s discipline committee.

Heather's legal skills are matched by her excellent client relationship and management skills. She brings a confident, responsive, and attentive approach to dealing with clients, who trust her to deal with their most difficult problems.

Heather frequently works with and has been mentored by NST’s leading litigators, Irwin Nathanson K.C., Stephen Schachter K.C., James C. MacInnis K.C., Karen L. Carteri, Mark S. Oulton and Julia K. Lockhart.

In 2020, Heather was elected to serve a two-year term as one of 12 members-at-large of the Vancouver Bar Association. She then served as vice president (2022-2023) and president (2023-2024) of the organization and is currently serving in the role of past president. For several years, Heather has volunteered as referral counsel with Access Pro Bono’s Court of Appeal program and has co-authored papers and book chapters for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia on substantive and procedural issues arising in civil litigation.
