Litigation Star
Sébastien is a founding partner of LCM Attorneys Inc., its first managing partner and Chairman of the Board. He focuses his practice on litigation, commercial and securities law, and arbitration and appears at all levels of Court and in administrative tribunals.
Sébastien regularly acts on behalf of financial institutions, including securities brokers and advisors, insurers and insurance brokers, whom he represents before civil and regulatory tribunals. He also represents public utilities and multinational corporations. His clients include the Fédération des Caisses Desjardins (the largest cooperative financial group in Canada), the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (the largest teachers’ retirement fund in the United States), AON Canada Inc. (a member of AON plc, listed as NYSE:AON, a leader in risk management, insurance brokerage and human resources management) and Hydro-Quebec (a public utility that generates, transmits and distributes electricity).
Sebastien is involved in numerous large class actions and has extensive experience in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. He is the former Chair of the Class Actions section of the Canadian Bar Association, Quebec Branch.
Sébastien was awarded the Quebec Bar’s honorary title of Advocatus Emeritus. He recently has been highlighted as a Benchmark Litigation Star. His expertise is recognized by the Chambers, Best Lawyers of Canada and Lexpert directories. He is the Vice-president of the Quebec Advisory Committee of the Advocates’ Society and a member of the Board of the Foundation of the Palliative Home-Care Society of Greater Montreal. He served on the boards of the International Bureau of Children’s Rights and of Lawyers Without Borders. He is a former Chair of the Canadian Bar Association, Quebec Branch Class Actions Section. He is regularly invited to speak, and he has taught students from the Faculty of Law of the University of Montreal, taking part in the Pierre-Basile-Mignault Moot Court Competition.
